Julia Watson

Bio

Julia Watson is the founder of REDE, Studio for Research and Design and an academic lecturing at both Harvard University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Commencing her teaching career in 2009, she has instructed in undergraduate and graduate design programs, teaching core and optional design studios, thesis and built technology seminars. She has previously taught in the landscape architecture program at Harvard University and the architecture programs at Columbia University and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. She received her Master in Landscape Architecture II, Post Professional Degree, graduating with distinction from Harvard University Graduate School of Design (MLA II 2008). She completed her undergraduate studies at University of Queensland (BA in architecture and planning, 1998) and then continued on to graduate studies at Queensland University of Technology (Graduate Diploma in landscape architecture graduating with distinction, 2001) in her native country of Australia. Previous professional experience includes five years in private practices in USA, Spain, UK and Australia. Her work is focused on the restoration of landscape biodiversity, indigenous landscape systems and material and landscape technologies.
