Bio
Todd L. Brooks is a partner in the firm Artec Consultants Inc, based in New York City. His expertise and experience span all areas of architectural acoustics and broader issues of performing arts center planning. Todd has collaborated with renowned architectural firms including Cesar Pelli and Associates, Coop Himmelb(l)au, Diamond Schmitt Architects, and Zaha Hadid Architects. He has worked closely with many performing arts groups in the course of his work, including The Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, and l’Orchestre Symphonique de Montréal. As the leader of Artec’s acoustics research program, Todd has led research efforts and objective measurement studies in over a dozen Artec performing arts center projects. Since 2009, Todd has taught the year-long Architectural Acoustics course in RPI’s Program in Architectural Acoustics. Todd is an accomplished horn player with performance experience as a soloist and ensemble musician in many music groups throughout Connecticut, New York, and Washington. He is able to identify most local bird, amphibian, and insect species by their calls and songs. He believes that being acutely aware of one’s aural surroundings is a key to thoroughly understanding acoustics of the built environment.
