FALL’14 @ CASE/NY: INFO MEETING.

At this time, the School of Architecture is opening up applications for the Fall 2014 Semester in NYC Program at the Center for Architectural Science (CASE).  Prof. Demetrios Comodromos and your classmates that have attended the semester CASE program will be doing an open information session on Wednesday, March 26th at 7:00pm in Room 120.  Demetrios will be giving a very short presentation on the CASE experience and taking questions.  Pizza will be provided.

A semester at CASE provides a key experience in a student’s education at the School of Architecture, one that can set you apart from all other schools of architecture in the nation.  Over the years, the feedback from those who have participated on why students should attend CASE in New York City for the semester include:

  • World-Class Professional Environment.  CASE is situated in the offices of SOM, where you will be working every day, and in contact with their company culture.  Students are also have opportunities to visit other offices for their lecture series and become part of the daily culture of professional architecture offices.
  • New York City as a Design Laboratory.  You will attend lectures, go on Manhattan + Brooklyn walks that relate to CASE’s coursework, visit other Schools’ lecture series, and libraries with their colleagues and professors as part of NYC’s design culture.
  • Engagement in CASE‘s Research Culture.  You will see how research is produced and integrated into design via opportunities to deploy the ongoing research at CASE into your studio work.
  • Direct engagement of performance based integrated design. You will complete your coursework at CASE with an understanding of the process to frame design parameters rooted in environmental conditions and analysis.
  • Working on Interdisciplinary Teams. You will be working with your PhD, Masters of Science colleagues, and professors from different backgrounds and be exposed to an environment of interdisciplinary integration.
  • Beginning your Career Network. The semester at CASE affords every student the opportunity to meet professionals, build their network, see what world-class design work environments are like, and experience studio through the lens of the active profession.
