Perry and Titus at Storefront for Art & Architecture (NYC)

Aug 14 – Sep 12, 2015, New York City:

CHRIS PERRY & ANTHONY TITUS FEATURED IN EXHIBITION AT STOREFRONT FOR ART & ARCHITECTURE

PROFESSORS Chris Perry and Anthony Titus are featured in “Measure”, a group exhibition at the Storefront for Art and Architecture in New York City. “Measure” is an exhibition of 30 drawings by 30 international architects presenting varying edifices of thought on what it means to measure the world, find measures, resist measurement, and measure the immeasurable. Drawings in this exhibition range from the real to the fictional, and from the functional to the symbolic. Measure opens August 14th at 7:00pm and remains open for one month until September 12th.

Storefront for Art and Architecture is a nonprofit organization committed to the advancement of innovative positions in architecture, art, and design. It is an institution seeking to provide open forums for these critical positions through exhibitions such as Measure, providing alternative platforms for dialogue and collaboration across disciplinary, ideological, and geographic boundaries. Each of the 30 drawings featured in Measure will be auctioned throughout the exhibition with proceeds supporting Storefront’s exhibitions and programming.

Students, faculty, friends, and all are invited to visit Measure through September 12th.

Chris Perry and partner Catherine Dwyre’s pneumastudio is an interdisciplinary design practice situated between the fields of architecture and landscape architecture.  pneumastudio’s drawing “(not) OUT THERE” reconfigures the Storefront gallery to a space in which “’the gallery’ itself becomes a new ecotone, an unfolding border ecology characterized by the asymmetric confrontation and negotiation between the ‘biomes’ of ‘nature’ and ‘culture’. The edge effects will likely produce new forms of highly adaptable “species” that are dexterous enough to colonize spaces of constant transition.”

Anthony Titus is the founder of “Anthony Titus Studio” – an interdisciplinary practice based in New York City. His studio has been a laboratory for the exploration of ideas related to the contemporary practices of art and architecture. Anthony Titus’ drawing “On Time Alone” is a layered, coincident composition of exposures of Storefront that “creates a scenario where abstract architectural notation and photographic reality coexist. Measure in this sense may relate less to the dimensional conditions of a space, and instead may begin to focus on qualities, which may be inherent to the unique space of the drawing. The drawing has no single reference point, yet is an amalgamation of layers, where fact and fiction, the real and imagined interact to create a hybridized zone of new potentials.  ”
