Emily McGuire: Reading Zumthor’s Story

“Understanding the relationships between materials and space in Peter Zumthor’s work throughout his practice in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.”

Chendru Starkloff: From Pops to Pop-Up!: Rapid Urbanism and Pedestrian Territory in Delhi and Hong Kong

“Cities are being built quicker, larger and denser than ever before. In the push for overnight growth, infrastructure, public space and the pedestrian are often overlooked. While this can be result in unsustainable urban fabric, it is also causing new innovations. ‘From POPS to POP-UP’ uses a set of urban typologies as a conceptual framework for examining phenomena in pedestrian infrastructure and public space in two major Asian urban hubs that have seen recent rapid growth. The study investigates aesthetic developments in these typologies by looking at relationships between pedestrian infrastructure and the works of notable architects such as Paul Rudolph, Ashok Lal, Foster and Partners and Le Corbusier.”
