The School of Architecture at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is currently seeking applications for a tenured or tenured-track position, at the rank of either Associate or Full Professor, beginning as early as the fall of 2007.

INNOVATIVE DESIGN PRACTICES
The School of Architecture is seeking candidates who have demonstrated a capacity to innovate and integrate complex social and technical systems in the practice of Architecture. We expect the candidate to contribute substantially to the undergraduate and graduate architectural design curricula and to offer research and teaching resources in the innovative practice of architecture. Preference will be given to candidates who demonstrate the capacity to develop research that creatively advances performance-driven design practices. The School of Architecture is seeking candidates who have demonstrated a capacity to innovate from within practice.

Candidates must have earned a master's or doctorate in architecture or a related field and have significant teaching experience. A record of building design and construction, awards, exhibitions, scholarly research and/or publications that demonstrate a recognizable contribution to the practice of architecture sufficient for tenure is required.

Research in Ecological Building Systems
The School of Architecture is building an innovative research-based graduate program in Built Ecologies focused on the advanced performance and integration of building systems. This program is situated in a research context that includes national centers for research in Lighting and Architectural Acoustics as well as strong professional design programs. The successful candidate will have a track record in graduate education with a demonstrated capacity to undertake innovative and fundable research and will be expected to assume a leadership role in graduate education at the masters and doctoral levels.

A doctorate in architecture or a related technical field is preferred. A record of technical research and/or publications that demonstrate a recognizable contribution to architecture, building performance or architectural engineering is required.
