to 9 (Tongji University & Rensselaer Polytechnic
Institute Design Studio)
The students will focus on leisure in Shanghai.
Longstanding attitudes towards leisure in China
have been affected by the booming economy, the emergence
of a middle class, time-saving technologies at home
and work, and a nationwide 5-day work week since
1995. Within this emerging culture architects have
an opportunity to define the boundaries, constructions,
and character of everyone’s favorite moment:
free time. |
