Elena Perez Guembe
Bio
Elena Perez Guembe holds a Master in Science in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University and an Architect Diploma from the Universidad de Navarra, Spain. She has worked with renowned architects Zaha-Hadid, and Rafael Moneo, in conception, development and execution of several projects and competitions, such as the Guggenheim Museum of Taichung, the BBC music center in London or the Afragola train station in Naples. She was awarded for two consecutive years with the prestigious “Caja Madrid Foundation” grant (2006-08), a full scholarship for graduate studies at Columbia University. There she also focused in the intersection between art and architecture, through installation work and Sculpture, under the artists Eric Anglès and Rirkrit Tiravanija. In 2007 she was awarded with the “Smart Geometry Group” fellowship to attend the international workshop “Advanced Computational Tools”. Her work was selected and presented at The Cooper Union and Guggenheim Museum of New York.Elena’s work explores mechanisms of continuity, fluidity and layering of space, as well as mechanisms of abstraction in representation as an engine of invention. It has been published in Abstract 06-07, and Abstract 07-08 magazine, Ed. Columbia University. She has been invited to jury at the University of Virginia, Barnard College and Columbia University. In summer 2010, she founded the collaborative studio “Urban Infills”.Website:
