Bio
Gabrielle Brainard, AIA, LEED AP, is an architect and educator specializing in enclosure design. She has worked as a façade consultant with Heintges and Associates, and as a senior technical architect with SHoP Architects. At SHoP, her projects included the design and execution of custom facades for 111 West 57th Street and Pier 17 at South Street Seaport.
In 2016, Gabrielle was a winner of Metals in Construction magazine’s “Reimagine a New York City Icon” Design Challenge, an ideas competition for an energy-efficient façade retrofit for the Met Life Building. Her writing has appeared in SQM: The Quantified House (Lars Mueller, 2015), ARCH+, and CLOG, and she was an editor of Perspecta 41: Grand Tour (MIT Press, 2008). She has taught comprehensive studios and courses in enclosure design and BIM at Pratt Institute and the New York Institute of Technology. Gabrielle is a graduate of Yale University and the Yale School of Architecture.
