This talk examines the theme of activism in Italy in the period leading up to 1968 and in particular looks at the occupation of the 1968 Milan Triennial of Design by workers, artists, and university students. This talk is in dialogue with the exhibition Now What?! Advocacy, Activism & Alliances in American Architecture Since 1968.

Alicia is an architect, artist, theorist and historian. Her visual and scholarly work focuses on the impact of technology on art, architecture, representation, and fabrication in contemporary architecture and its history. She is the author of the upcoming book Alternate Organics: The aesthetics of experimentation in art, technology & architecture in postwar Italy. Her research has been supported by the Graham Foundation and the Society for the Humanities at Cornell University.

The student-led lecture is within the framework of ArchiteXX, an independent, unaffiliated organization for women in architecture that seeks to transform the profession of architecture.
