Bio
Ryosuke Imaeda is a designer and educator based in New York and Japan. Imaeda holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania, where he received the Newberry Scholarship and PPD Prize in design excellence.
Following his experience at Zaha Hadid Architects, he worked at Reiser + Umemoto, RUR Architecture on a series of built and unbuilt projects including Taipei Pop Music Center, Kaohsiung Port Terminal in Taiwan, Umekita Culture Park in Japan, Extension of the University of Applied Arts Vienna in Austria, and numerous residential projects on the East Coast of the United States.
In both teaching and practice, he experiments with oscillation and intersection between physical and digital design production, actively advancing his methodology with material and representational studies. His work is widely published in many journals and articles such as ArchDaily, Archinect, Bustler, Phaidon, Domus, and his model is permanently exhibited at the 9/11 Tribute Museum in Manhattan, New York.
Prior to his appointment as a Lecturer at Rensselaer, Imaeda held teaching positions at University of Pennsylvania and Washington University in St. Louis. He currently teaches summer courses as an Assistant Professor at Nagoya Institute of Technology in Japan.
