Prior to forming her own practice, Jillian was an associate at Dattner Architects where she led the design and construction of several civic projects in the NYC metropolitan region and Puerto Rico. Jillian founded the Dattner Architects’ R+D Co-Lab, a cross-studio collaboration engaging issues that confront people and cities today and have the potential to impact the future. At Dattner, her projects ranged from construction administration on the award-winning DSNY Spring Street Salt Shed and Manhattan Districts 1/2/5 Garage; to the competition winning submission “PORT LAGUARDIA” for Governor Cuomo’s masterplan competition.
Jillian is an active member of the American Institute of Architects, where she has organized several public programs and workshops with the AIANY Transportation & Infrastructure Committee, and the Puerto Rico Taskforce “Power to the People” series. Jillian’s work has been displayed in exhibits at Studio X, Storefront for Art and Architecture, Newark Gateway Center, Bushwick Generator, and the Center for Architecture. Jillian has presented her work in several forums including the Data & Society Research Institute (2017); the National Planning Conference in New Orleans (2018); and the AAG Feminist Digital Geographies panel (2019). She has published in peer-reviewed journals such as Thresholds (MIT), with forthcoming articles in Frontiers in Blockchain and Design and Culture.
