As part of the Fall 2020/Spring 2021 Building Sciences Lecture Series themed: “Generative Citizenship: Leveraging New Tools and Forms of Entrepreneurship in the City” we invite you to join us on Friday, October 23rd from 5-6 pm. This virtual lecture will be open to the whole school and general public on Zoom.

This Friday’s lecture will take the form of an intimate conversation with LinYee Yuan, the founder and editor of MOLD and RPI SoA alumni Vivian Lin, founder of Groundcycle.

Over the past decade, Yuan’s work explores how designers can address the coming food crisis by creating products and systems that will help feed 9 billion people by the year 2050.

Since the early months of the COVID pandemic, Vivian Lin’s work at Groundcycle aims to fill the massive composting market gap created by New York City’s 2021 Executive budget cuts alongside the distribution of surplus food from farms disrupted by the pandemic. Both entrepreneurs working at the intersection of food and design, will share their personal stories and activism around creative, human-centric solutions to our current food crisis.
