PROF. YAEL EREL AND STUDENTS AT TROY GLOW FESTIVAL

Assistant Professor Yael Erel and students from her “Projecting Light” seminar are participating in the Troy Glow Festival.

Troy Glow is a temporary public art light festival held in historic downtown Troy from Sunday, December 4, 2022 until January 9, 2023. Troy Glow features a series of site-specific outdoor installations of light-based art by regional artists. Partner organizations will be participating through a total of 14 sites along a walkable route.

In partnership with Avner Ben Natan, Prof. Yael Erel is presenting an analog light animation on the back façade of Troy Savings Bank Music Hall (viewable from Franklin Alley and State Street). They also participate in the collective exhibition at Troy’s Arts Center of the Capital Region (265 River Street)

In the Arts Center’s foyer, SoA students are presenting three installations: “Reflective Silhouettes”by Christiana Bevilacqua, Joseph Pelton, Rebecca Victori and Christopher Yip; “Disc-o-light” by Darnell Clement, Daniel Cureno and Morgan Palacios; and “Stratified Tree” by Oliver Ma, Qingyang Xu and Yishu Yu.

The festival opens with the traditional Victorian Stroll event on December 4; the lights will be on from 4:30-10pm. A first-look opening reception will take place on Saturday, December 3 from 6-8pm at the Arts Center of the Capital Region, and will include guided tours of the festival.
